Swanage Railway

Ride the train to the seaside. Steam trains run for six miles, weaving their way through the beautiful Purbeck countryside. From Norden Station at Purbeck Park, hop off at Corfe Castle station for the castle and village and then hop back on the train for the seaside town of Swanage and the Jurassic Coast. Tickets available online or from the station.

Purbeck Mineral and Mining Museum

Explore the old clay works and mine building and uncover the history of Purbeck’s clay industry and its fascinating stories. Venture down the mine for a taste of working life underground and see the industrial narrow gauge railway in action.

Cyclexperience Cycle Hire

Hire a bike and cycle to the beaches at Studland (12 miles+), the market town of Wareham, the RSPB Arne Nature Reserve or up and over the hills for panoramic views of Purbeck. Imagine and explore the railway themed outdoor play area, set in woodland surroundings. Artist designed to inspire fun and creative play and aimed for children aged 7 and over.

Corfe Castle Village

The characterful and historic stone built village lies at the foot of the castle. Shops, cafes, country pubs, small museum and a delightful Model Village. From Purbeck Park walk the ¾ mile trail to Corfe Castle (may not be suitable for all abilities). Alternatively ride the train to Corfe Castle station.

Corfe Castle - National Trust

The majestic ruins of Corfe Castle have become one of England’s most iconic locations. Climb to the top for stunning landscape views with passing steam trains. Open all year but autumn to spring offers extra tranquillity. Audio tours and events. From Purbeck Park choose to walk the ¾ mile trail to Corfe Castle (may not be suitable for all abilities). Alternatively ride the Swanage Railway train to Corfe Castle station.

Purbeck Breezer

Visiting is a breeze on The Purbeck Breezer. Hop on the award winning bus. The summer service number 30 brings you to Purbeck Park from Swanage, Wareham, Wool, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Dorchester and Weymouth. The number 40 route brings you to nearby Corfe Castle and Norden Campsite.

Stroll, Hike, Run

Walk the trail to Corfe Castle, a ¾ mile route. Journey onwards to the Purbeck Ridge and the coast. Hike to the Hartland Way Trail on Hartland Moor, a national nature reserve, owned by the National Trust and part of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Eat, Drink and Relax

Stop at Left Luggage Cafe for a freshly ground coffee or tea, cakes, snacks and ice creams. Grab and go or sit and enjoy the outdoor patio. The refreshment kiosk on the platform at Norden Station offers a range of hot and cold drinks, home made cakes and confectionery. Or have a picnic, tables are located around the Park.
